Time for an update for the sake of updating... We're in the home stretch for the first semester at DigiPen. For us freshmen, our individual game projects are now underway. We have a lot of work ahead of us.
Still, I have a few other things in the works that could be very helpful to the Project.
First, I'm committing to paper the sequence of events in Sonic Adventure. I feel that it would make a good illustration of how its story structure worked, and making it clearly visible would help us analyze what worked and what didn't.
Second, I'm coming up with a board game analog for Sonic's 3D gameplay. That is, I'm translating the common mechanics of Sonic into a racetrack-style board game format. The search for a computer-based prototype just landed us a preview release of SonicGDK, so that leaves paper prototyping. And from how it looks now, this could actually be much more effective at letting us review individual mechanics along with greater level structures.
That's where I'm at. But schoolwork's piling on as well, and that always comes first.
